Talented Women

I organized the Womens Fair held on May 23 in McBride. It had 23 different workshop options that women were able to pick four from to do over the whole day.
It was a free event that included all workshops, lunch, free gifts, and door prizes.
It was a fun day that always reminds me of the great talented women we have in our valley that are perhaps not the loudest about what they do and how great they are. Typical women!
Next year I would love to do the fair and include a sleepover pajama party that included watching movies on the big screen. What do people think?

It is tough

Today I had to call and ask for help for my grandparents who are 76 and 86. They just moved to town this year and my grandfather's health is declining rapidly. My grandmother is being quite stubborn and is determined that she can look after him on her own and does not need help!
So now after having left the issue alone for many months she has finally resigned to being okay with someone coming to wash the windows. It is my hope that when I take a worker to their house this week after listening to the nurse she may be more open to accepting personal and respite care for Grandpa.
It is very sad to see them needing help now after year of watching them live in a rugged rural area running a farm and mill and being perfectly indepedent.
I hope all goes well this week.

The Big Cook

Yesterday I and a group of women helped a friend you is having trouble with her pregnancy do a 'big cook' at her house.
I have never been apart of a big cook before but now am hooked! We prepared 22 frozen meals for our friend and her family in two hours. The meals now just have to be taken out of the freezer and put in the oven or slow cooker. The best part was that we got the meals done but also got to hang out with good friends for a few hours as well!
I am committed to doing this at my house soon, but as soon a hockey season starts it is going to be a requirment! On hockey nights we leave the house before 830am in the morning and do not get return home until after 730pm. Having healthy quick meals with be a wonderful thing! I hate feeding everyone frozen pizza two nights a week.
I have to start doing this now as I am still motivated.

Sing it proud!

I watched on the news the story of Susan Boyle a 47-year-old woman from Scotland audtion for the show 'Britain's Got Talent'.
This is a classical example of how society pre judges individuals based on their looks. When Susan appeared on the stage the audience and judges admittedly preceived her to be a middle aged woman living a pipe dream who quite clearly probably could not sing a note.
I was moved to tears (I know I am a sap) watching the video of Susan singing and also watching the judges and audiences reaction.
Susan is an amazing singer and provided all of us with an invaluable life lesson that we as a world society cannot be so judgemental. "Never judge a book by it's cover".
I know I have a tendiceny to be judgemental and it has been a personality trait that I have been trying to work on for over a year now. To be non judgemental is one of the greatest traits I believe a person can possess.

My first blog!

So this is my very first blog! Someone recently told me I would have lots of interesting things to say if I started a blog! I am not so sure about that and I am finding myself not sure what to say or what to tell people that might be interesting.
I like reading other people's site to learn about them and see what they are doing, I guess I will do that with mine as well.
Just have to find people who are interested now I guess!
