I watched on the news the story of Susan Boyle a 47-year-old woman from Scotland audtion for the show 'Britain's Got Talent'.
This is a classical example of how society pre judges individuals based on their looks. When Susan appeared on the stage the audience and judges admittedly preceived her to be a middle aged woman living a pipe dream who quite clearly probably could not sing a note.
I was moved to tears (I know I am a sap) watching the video of Susan singing and also watching the judges and audiences reaction.
Susan is an amazing singer and provided all of us with an invaluable life lesson that we as a world society cannot be so judgemental. "Never judge a book by it's cover".
I know I have a tendiceny to be judgemental and it has been a personality trait that I have been trying to work on for over a year now. To be non judgemental is one of the greatest traits I believe a person can possess.

Ha! You will note that Simon Cowell, the largest proclaimer of "the physical must be appealing for the music to be popular" is now scrambling to get her a record deal.
ReplyDeleteI watched it over and over online. I clapped each time. Dorky me.
